NSAD works to further the understanding of addiction and mental health issues in New Zealand by providing comprehensive data to the sector.
For more than 60 years, NSAD has championed the cause of those affected by, or at risk from, alcohol and other drug use. In that time, we’ve never been afraid to initiate new projects and champion developments that will best serve the people we worry about.
Today, as funders demand a greater understanding of the health issues they are responsible for, and providers struggle to keep pace with ever greater informational and reporting demands, NSAD is once again shifting its role: drawing on its significant skills and immense knowledge of the NGO sector to provide a new level of understanding for those working on the frontline of addiction and mental health in this country, and a new level of awareness for stakeholders across society about the extent of addiction and mental health issues and the shifting trends in communities.
In an environment where funding is finite, we need to look to innovation to provide game changing breakthroughs. The most powerful weapon we have is our access to on-the-ground information. Our goal is to transform how these issues are understood, how they are quantified and therefore how they are funded, treated and assessed.
